Information Source: Ms. Susan Tan - Holidays Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd (Penang):

Please take note of the following bulletin from Malaysia Airlines :

Please be advise that effective 01 June 2004, all domestic passengers
traveling on domestic sectors within Peninsular Malaysia and within
Sabah/Sarawak will be required to produce identity document which will
contain a photograph and full name of the bearer upon request by the

This is for verifying that the name shown on the boarding pass is the actual ticket holder.

This policy will be enforced at all domestic airports in Malaysia. The name on the boarding pass must match with the identity document otherwise will be denied boarding and handed to the airport authority or police for further investigation.

Acceptable identity document will be as follows :-

Identity card * IC *
A motor vehicle driving license
Employee security identity card
Credit card with photograph
Identity document requirement such as passport or identity card * IC *
for passengers traveling between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah/Sarawak
still remain in force.

Please ensure compliance of the above ruling to avoid passenger being
denied boarding or detained by the airport authority for trespassing.
