Anthony Loke visits grieving widow, offers comfort and support after tragic crash in Klang

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke paid a visit to the wife of the motorcyclist who died after being hit by a driver believed to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs in Klang, Selangor, on Sunday.

He said he visited the family of the late Amirul Hafiz Omar, 33, yesterday, and was accompanied by Road Transport Department (JPJ) director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.

Loke said he also personally provided financial assistance to the man’s widow, Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, 32, to help lighten the family’s burden.

“However, no amount of money can compensate for the loss of a loved one, especially for a wife who now has to continue life without her husband by her side.

“I deeply understand the sorrow felt, and I express our profound sympathies to the deceased’s family in facing this difficult time,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Yesterday, laboratory assistant R. Saktygaanapathy, 28, was brought before the Klang Magistrate’s Court on charges of murdering the victim in an incident that occurred at around 11.47am on March 29.

No confession was recorded from the accused under Section 302 of the Penal Code because the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

On a separate charge, the accused pleaded guilty to the offence of drug consumption, and the court has set June 3 for case mention and the preparation of a pathology report.

South Klang district police chief ACP Lim Jit Huey had previously reported that the victim died after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a car that was driven recklessly and at high speed in a crash on Jalan Raya Barat here. — Bernama
