
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim began tabling the Supply Bill (Budget) 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat at 3.35 pm today, outlining the government’s spending plans and direction for the coming year.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, tabled the fifth MADANI Budget since the formation of the MADANI Government in 2022, continuing the implementation of the nation’s reform and development agenda.
The prime minister, clad in a light blue baju Melayu, arrived at the Parliament lobby at 3.25 pm, accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan and Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying.
“Assalamualaikum and greetings. I propose to move the Bill, an Act to withdraw a sum of money from the Consolidated Fund for services in 2027 and to appropriate that sum for those services, be read for a second time,” he said as he began tabling the Supply Bill 2027 for its second reading, witnessed by Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
Themed “Malaysia MADANI: Menggapai di Langit, Mengakar di Bumi (Reaching for the Sky, Rooted in the Ground),” Budget 2027 is the second budget under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), which serves as the national development framework for the 2026-2030 period.
The tabling of the bill is broadcast live via local television stations, including BERNAMA TV, as well as social media platforms and the Parliament YouTube channel.
According to the Dewan Rakyat calendar, Members of Parliament will debate the Supply Bill (Budget) 2027 at the policy stage over eight days, starting this Monday.
The ministerial winding-up sessions are scheduled for Oct 26 to 29, followed by the committee-stage debate from Nov 2 to 26, before the Bill is put to the Dewan Rakyat for approval.
Anwar was previously reported as saying that Budget 2027 would continue to focus on easing the people’s financial burden, protecting the needy, creating more opportunities and ensuring that the benefits of development are distributed more equitably. — Bernama
