A Healthy and Fun Day in Bangsar for all was organised by Bangsar Baru Residents Association (BBRA), Bangsar Baru Business Council (BBB), Brickfields Police Division and Member of Parliament, Lembah Pantai on the 17 December 2006
The launch which was held in front of Pondok Polis, Jalan Telawi Empat Bangsar Baru at 8:15pm was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai after a full day of fun which started as early as 8:00am in the morning.
MORNING SESSION
From 8:00am till 12 Noon, there were many street activities which took place which basically consist of street soccer, wall climbing, drag line skate, BMX exhibition, Telawi Family Baton Run and a Mini Concert on a Mobile Stage. There were also Canopy Activities like Sponsors Games, Registration Counter, Celebrity for Peace Counter, Exhibitions and Souvenirs for all.
At 2pm after the break for lunch, activities resumed for the Street Soccer challenge as well as Wall Climbing and Drag Line Skating.
By 5pm, the prize presentation took place.
EVENING SESSION
At 6pm, the registration counter opened for the “Walk of Hope” took place and participants gathered at the LRT Station along Jalan Bangsar next to the open space car park. The parade started around 8pm along with the arrivals of the VVIPs and VIPs. A human chain link was then later formed by people present. By 8:30pm a moment of silence was given before the Walk of Hope commenced the walk from the LRT station to Bangsar Baru.
While the above was going on, there were also a variety of performances for those present along Jalan Telawi Bangsar Baru. There were street buskers, clown shows, stilt performances as well as Native Musical Instruments Show.
By about 9:15pm, the Walk of Hope parade arrived at Jalan Telawi and a welcome song was played and Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil was invited to light up the Torch of Hope to officiate the Opening Ceremony. This was followed by the launch of “Bangsar Baru Towards Zero Crime” by Bangsar Baru Residents Association, Bangsar Baru Business Council and the Brickfields Police District.
By 10:15pm the evening concert at the make shift stage commenced and everyone was treated to some wonderful music and spectacular Fireworks which were left off in 3 separate sessions where the night sky was lit up with a new ray of hope for a better and safer Bangsar Baru.
