KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 — Batik Air has cancelled its scheduled flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, today as a precautionary measure amid the ongoing conflict.

In a statement today, the airline said the decision was made following an assessment of the evolving situation, with the safety and security of passengers and crew remaining its highest priority.

“The affected flight, OD701, was scheduled to depart Kuala Lumpur for King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah at 7.25pm.

“Affected passengers have been rescheduled to the next available flight and will be notified through their registered contact details, where applicable,” it said.

The airline said it was closely monitoring developments and coordinating with the relevant aviation authorities, airport operators and other stakeholders to assess the potential impact on flight operations.

Passengers were also advised to check Batik Air’s official website and social media channels for the latest flight updates.

Earlier today, Bernama reported that Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan had advised Malaysians to temporarily postpone travel to Saudi Arabia for umrah following security concerns after a deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. — Bernama
