
KUCHING, Oct 11 — Air quality in Kuching and Miri has improved but remains in the moderate category, according to the Department of Environment’s (DOE) Air Pollutant Index of Malaysia (APIMS) portal on Sunday.
Kuching’s Air Pollutant Index (API) reading last recorded an unhealthy level at 2am today, at 111, before dropping to 99 at 3am.
The reading subsequently declined from 153 at 3pm yesterday (Oct 10) to 85 at 3pm today, placing Kuching in the moderate category.
In Miri, the API reading last recorded an unhealthy level at noon today, at 104, before falling to 99 at 1pm.
Miri’s API reading had remained in the moderate category from 3pm yesterday until 11am today, when it rose to 101 before reaching 104 at noon.
As of 3pm today, all air quality monitoring stations in Sarawak recorded API readings within the moderate category.
The readings were Limbang (84), ILP Miri (80), Miri (98), Samalaju (96), Bintulu (94), Mukah (79), Kapit (66), Sibu (87), Sarikei (84), Sri Aman (61), Samarahan (74), Kuching (85) and IPD Serian (70). — The Borneo Post
