KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) senior officer Mohd Sani Harul, who remains unreachable following the devastating Nepal flood tragedy, was among 121 Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) personnel honoured at the ministry’s 2026 ‘Bakti Disanjung Budi Dijunjung’ appreciation night held last night.

In a statement yesterday, KPKT said Mohd Sani had served in the country’s fire and rescue services for more than 30 years.

“The tribute to him serves as a mark of remembrance and solidarity from the entire KPKT fraternity with Mohd Sani and his family,” it said.

KPKT also expressed hope that efforts to establish his whereabouts would be facilitated, while praying that his family would be granted strength and fortitude in facing this ordeal.

Of the 121 personnel honoured, 10 are still serving and due to retire, while another 11 have passed away.

Meanwhile, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said in the statement that KPKT’s achievements were the result of the service, dedication and sacrifices of the ministry’s 22,000 personnel, who carry out their responsibilities with the utmost integrity. — Bernama
