KUALA BERANG, Oct 9 — A KFC fast-food restaurant manager died after being struck by a car while crossing the road at Kilometre 31 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Bukit Besi, near Ajil Mosque here, yesterday.

Hulu Terengganu district police chief Supt Sharudin Abdul Wahab said the victim, Nor Haizura Mamat Sidek, 45, died at the scene due to severe head injuries.

“The accident involved a Proton Saga travelling from Kuala Terengganu towards Kuala Berang. Preliminary investigations revealed that the car was driven by a 24-year-old man, accompanied by a 22-year-old female passenger.

“At approximately 8.15pm yesterday, the victim, a pedestrian was believed to be crossing the road from left to right when she was struck by the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body was taken to the Hulu Terengganu Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement today.

He added that neither the driver nor the passenger sustained any injuries in the incident.

He noted that the road surface was wet following rain at the time of the incident and the location was a two-lane straight stretch in one direction with heavy traffic.
