
IPOH, Oct 9 — A PLUS auxiliary police patrol officer was killed in an accident at KM231.3 of the northbound North-South Expressway near Taiping this morning.
Taiping district police chief ACP S. Saravanan said police received information about the accident at 8.05 am.
“Initial investigations found that the accident is believed to have occurred at about 7 am when a Perodua Myvi driven by a 23-year-old man collided with the auxiliary police officer while travelling from Shah Alam, Selangor, to Bayan Lepas, Penang.
“The 36-year-old auxiliary police officer sustained injuries to the head, hands and legs and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the car driver escaped unhurt,” he said in a statement tonight.
Saravanan said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He urged anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward and provide information to assist in the investigation by contacting traffic investigating officer Insp Mohd Shahrin Mohamad at 017-9266286. — Bernama
