KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the affordable housing township Bandar Madani Bukit Jalil will be developed as a residential area complete with amenities, including a vertical school.
During the tabling of Budget 2027 today, he said registration for the first phase of the proposed 17,000-unit housing development will open on Monday.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said nearly RM1 billion has also been allocated for projects under the People-Friendly Homes (Rumah Mesra Rakyat) and People’s Residency Programme (Program Residensi Rakyat).
“Four new housing projects will be implemented in Kulai, Johor; Nilai, Negeri Sembilan; Paya Rumput, Melaka; and Lembah Pertang, Terengganu,” he said.
Anwar also announced that the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) will provide housing financing guarantees of up to RM20 billion.
“This guarantee will assist 80,000 first-time homebuyers, particularly the self-employed who do not have a fixed income,” he said.
The SJKP is a federal government-backed programme under the Finance Ministry designed to help first-time homebuyers — especially those with irregular, non-fixed or informal incomes — secure housing loans from participating banks.
