Police arrest 67 in raids on 13 illegal gambling dens across Selangor and Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — Police arrested 67 individuals in raids conducted at 13 premises suspected of conducting illegal gambling in Selangor and Sabah from Wednesday until yesterday.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M.Kumar said 52 men and 15 women, aged 20 to 75, were arrested in the raids, with 24 of them being caretakers.

“The 13 premises include eight in Seri Kembangan and North Klang, Selangor and five premises in Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Sandakan, Sabah,” he said in a statement here today, adding that various electronic equipment was seized, including nine televisions, tablets (95), laptops (17), controllers/consoles (61), simulator machines (20), computers (38) and RM16,553 in cash.

Also, 26 individuals detained were found to be foreigners from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Myanmar, and have been handed over to district police headquarters in Serdang, Klang Utara, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Sandakan for further action.

“The suspects are being investigated under Section 4B(a), 4(1)(c) and  6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 as well as Section 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, he added. — Bernama
