SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today launched a commemorative book, first-day cover and stamps, and special coins in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee of His Royal Highness’s reign.

Also present at the ceremony at Pustaka Raja Tun Uda here were Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

Accompanied by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Sultan Sharafuddin officiated at the launch of the commemorative items, presented as tokens of appreciation by the Selangor government in collaboration with the Selangor State Treasury, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Pos Malaysia Bhd.

In his address, Amirudin expressed appreciation to UPM for its cooperation and commitment in producing the book, titled Menjulang Takhta: 25 Tahun Pemerintahan Sultan Selangor.

He said the publication was a meaningful effort to document the Sultan’s reign and preserve the heritage and identity of the Selangor Sultanate for future generations.

“Today, we are also presented with special commemorative stamps produced by Pos Malaysia to showcase Selangor’s royal heritage and grandeur.

“The stamps feature images of the Balairung Seri (Throne Room) at Istana Alam Shah, the Tengkolok Balung Raja royal headdress and the Keris Terapang Gabus, alongside geometric patterns and nine-petalled Bunga Tanjung motifs symbolising the majesty of the royal institution, the sanctity of tradition and the state’s sovereignty,” he said.

Amirudin said the State Treasury had also produced special commemorative coins to mark Sultan Sharafuddin’s 25-year reign, symbolising the state’s progress, stability and prosperity.

He said the commemorative items demonstrated that the Silver Jubilee celebrations went beyond documenting history by highlighting art, symbolism and heritage of significant historical and cultural value.

“These are tokens of appreciation from the Selangor government, made possible through the cooperation and support of the State Treasury, UPM and Pos Malaysia.

“May these gifts serve as meaningful mementoes and reflect the close cooperation among the agencies for mutual benefit,” he said. — Bernama
