Amazon Web Services says overheating at North Virginia data centre disrupts services

SAN FRANCISCO, May 8 — Amazon’s ‌cloud unit, Amazon Web Services, said yesterday it was working to restore normal temperatures at a data centre ‌in North ⁠Virginia ⁠after overheating ⁠disrupted some services.

The ⁠incident ⁠caused a ⁠power loss that affected certain hardware, AWS said, adding ⁠that services reliant on the ⁠impacted data centre ⁠could ⁠experience “impairments”. — Reuters
