
BALIK PULAU, May 17 — Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan will seek an audience with the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in the near future to clarify issues regarding the Federal Government’s allocation to the state of Pahang.
Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said the Federal Government’s commitment is clear in ensuring that every allocation to the state is made based on needs and the Federal Constitution.
“I will seek an audience with the Sultan of Pahang, God willing, this week to clarify a little and this is to ensure that all parties understand what we have given and the allocations provided
“I don’t think there is a problem with this matter,” he told reporters after attending the Opening and Handing Over Ceremony of the Additional Block of Preschool Classes of the Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tan Sri Awang Had Salleh here today.
He explained that the government always strives to increase allocations to the state from time to time, especially involving development spending based on current priorities.
On May 8, the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, while officiating the Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 15th Pahang State Legislative Assembly, questioned the Federal Government’s allocations to the state.
In this regard, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he would ask Amir Hamzah to provide a comprehensive explanation regarding the Federal Government’s allocations to the state of Pahang to be submitted to the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang. — Bernama
