KLUANG, July 5 — On entering the second day of the 16th Johor state election campaign series, Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today spent time mingling with the local community in the ‘PMX Santai Sarapan’ programme in Simpang Renggam near here.
The Prime Minister’s arrival at about 8.40am at Warung Pak Din was greeted with enthusiastic cheers from thousands of supporters and PH machinery who had begun flooding the premises as early as 7am.
The atmosphere around the premises seemed to turn into a ‘red wave’ when the majority of visitors wore red colour clothes as a show of support for the coalition, thus further fueling the campaign heat in the area.
The presence of residents from various ages and racial backgrounds who gathered with the country’s number one leader clearly reflected the harmony and spirit of unity of the local community.
In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, Anwar spent almost an hour having breakfast and socialising, besides not missing the opportunity to accommodate requests from the public to take selfies.
The session provided an opportunity for local residents to interact closely and express their aspirations to the Prime Minister before he continued his campaign schedule to the next location.
Also present at this morning’s programme were PH candidate for Machap seat, Nur Hafiz Roslan, and Layang-Layang candidate, Guna Balakrishnan.
In these polls, PH is fielding candidates in all 56 state seats consisting of 20 PKR, Amanah (19) and DAP (17) representatives.
Overall, the Johor Polls is seeing a total of 172 candidates contesting for the 56 seats with the Election Commission (EC) setting July 11 as polling day, while early voting is on July 7.
