KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 — An 11-year-old boy reported missing near a river by the NKVE close to Menara Finas in Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya, was found dead this morning.

According to Berita Harian, the body of Paulus Amsal Jimri was found about 1.9 kilometres from where he was last reported missing.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the boy’s body was found by the riverbank at Jalan Welfare, Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh.

He said the department’s Selangor operations centre received an emergency call through MERS999 at 10am about the discovery.

“The Water Rescue Team retrieved the victim at 10.47am before he was confirmed dead by Health Ministry personnel at 11am,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the first day of the search yesterday covered a two-kilometre stretch on the water surface, but the boy was not found before the operation was suspended at 9pm due to safety concerns and darkness.

The search resumed this morning along the riverbank from Paya Jaras Hilir Bridge to Merbau Sempak Bridge, before the boy was found.

A police report on his disappearance was lodged at the Kota Damansara police station yesterday.
