TAPAH, June 7 — Hiker Jaslinda Saludin, who was found safe today after going missing for 14 days in the Gunung Batu Putih area here, sustained several minor injuries, including to her head, after falling multiple times while trying to find her way out of the forest.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the 49-year-old also suffered insect bites during her time in the forest.

Based on information provided by Jaslinda to rescuers, she fell several times while navigating difficult terrain, including near river areas and from heights of about five and three metres, but managed to continue her journey each time.

“Alhamdulillah, she is in stable condition and sustained only minor injuries,” he told reporters at the Emergency and Trauma Unit of Tapah Hospital here today.

Earlier, Jaslinda was found by an Orang Asli resident near Kampung Lubuk Gaharu, Pos Musoh, at about 5 pm.

She was among 14 hikers and two Forestry Mountain Guides (MGP) who began the Trans Spencer Chapman expedition at 2 am on May 23 via the Pos Gedung-Gunung Bah Gading-Gunung Batu Putih-Kuala Woh route.

Jaslinda and another hiker, Mohd Hanafi Neikmad, 41, reportedly experienced health problems and stopped during the trek. Jaslinda later continued towards the summit and was last seen by a guide at about 7.30 am on May 24. — Bernama
