PUTRAJAYA, Nov 6 — The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti), through the Space Authority Division (BPAngkasa), confirmed receiving preliminary information on reports of bright light sightings in Malaysian airspace over several areas on Wednesday night (November 4).
In a statement today, Mosti said the sightings were also linked to the re-entry of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (Nasa) Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory satellite.
“So far, there are no official reports on the discovery of any suspected space object debris, such as rockets, on land or in Malaysian waters,” the statement read.
Mosti added that active monitoring is being conducted by BPAngkasa in collaboration with relevant agencies.
The public is advised not to touch any suspicious objects and to report them immediately to the authorities, the 999 emergency line, or directly to BPAngkasa at 03-8885 8685 or bpadg@mosti.gov.my.
“Mosti also urges the public not to make any speculations and to obtain authentic information from official channels,” it added. — Bernama
