GEORGE TOWN, May 30 — A man found dead inside a car parked outside an ice cream shop along Jalan Sungai Dua here yesterday was confirmed to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Northeast District deputy police chief Superintendent Lee Swee Sake said the cause of death of the 37-year-old man was determined following a post-mortem examination conducted at the Forensic Department of Penang Hospital today.

“The victim is also believed to have died about five days before his body was discovered yesterday.

“No criminal elements were detected. The case has been classified as a sudden death, and a Sudden Death Report has been opened for further investigation,” he told Bernama when contacted today.

The victim, an engineer, is believed to have fallen asleep inside the vehicle without switching off the engine.
