SANDAKAN, Aug 23 — An electrical contractor worker died after he was believed to have been electrocuted while carrying out installation work near Bandar Tabin Jaya here yesterday.
The victim, identified as Jai, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Health Ministry medical officer.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jimmy Lagung said the department received an emergency call at 7.53pm before seven firefighters and a fire engine arrived at the scene at 8.03pm.
He said Sabah Electricity (SE) first disconnected the electricity supply to ensure the area was safe before firefighters used special equipment to bring the victim down from an electricity pole.
The victim was subsequently handed over to medical personnel for examination before being pronounced dead at the scene, with the body later handed over to police for further action and investigation.
The operation, which also involved five SE personnel, two police personnel and two Health Ministry personnel, was brought under control at 9.26pm and ended at 9.40pm. — Daily Express
