DUNGUN, Sept 13 — A fire at the Pulau Tenggol public jetty parking area near Jalan Rajawali here yesterday afternoon affected 11 cars, including two that were badly damaged.
Dungun Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Yahaya Hanafi said the department was alerted of the incident at 12.14pm.
He said firefighters arriving at the scene found 11 vehicles parked at the jetty area involved in the blaze.
“The fire destroyed about 90 per cent of a Perodua Myvi and a Mitsubishi ASX sport utility vehicle (SUV), while nine other vehicles suffered minimal damage,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Yahaya said the fire was brought under control at 12.32pm and fully extinguished at 3.15pm by six firefighters, assisted by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and a utility vehicle.
He said firefighters used a 200-foot (60.96-metre) hose line, foam spray and water supply from the fire engine’s tank during the operation.
