KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — If you are a user of the Flexi Parking or Smart Selangor Parking apps, you can start using them to pay for parking again, as services have been restored following cyberattacks.

Smart Selangor Parking announced in a Facebook post this morning that its app is back on again: “Our app service has now resumed and is available as usual. You may now proceed with your parking payment.”

Flexi Parking, whose system is used by 64 local authorities nationwide, also announced this morning on Facebook: “Our app service is now back online.”

Flexi Parking also said it understood some users of its app may still be experiencing certain issues and may need further assistance, adding that its customer service team will review each feedback and help to the best of their ability.

Users of both apps were seen leaving comments on those Facebook posts to highlight however that the credit they had reloaded or topped up into the apps had gone missing.

Subsequently, both Flexi Parking and Smart Selangor Parking made similar Facebook announcements on how their app users can report issues that they continue to face.

For example, Flexi Parking said it is currently receiving a high volume of messages on enquiries and issues related to the app, and said it will review all messages from users and help them based on the information given.

“Please be assured that every message received is not being ignored and is being reviewed progressively based on the required checking,” it said.

Flexi Parking directed app users to contact it via private message on Facebook and to provide these details:

  • Registered phone number;
  • Vehicle plate number;
  • App issue faced;
  • Screenshot (if available);
  • Payment or compound details (if relevant).

Both Flexi Parking and Smart Selangor Parking had on June 30 first announced on their respective Facebook pages that there is a temporary service disruption, which left users unable to pay for parking digitally.

Yesterday, the Selangor state government said it had instructed all local councils within the state to temporarily not issue parking summonses while the Flexi Parking system is still being restored.
