Flying Doctor Service helicopter carrying five crashes near Long Lellang airport

KUCHING, 8 Sept — A BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including the pilot, crashed near the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) airport, about 929 kilometres north of Kuching, today.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said it received notification of the incident from the Flight Information Service at 3.58 pm.

The helicopter was operating a Flying Doctor Service flight with five people on board, including the pilot, CAAM said in a statement.

CAAM, however, did not mention any casualties in its statement.

“The Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), under the Transport Ministry, will investigate the incident in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016,” the statement read. — Bernama
