PUTRAJAYA, May 7 —  Advance payments under the Ploughing Incentive to Farmers (IPKP) scheme amounting to RM200 per hectare for farmers in Peninsular Malaysia will be disbursed in stages from May 19, subject to schedules and confirmation by the relevant agencies.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM),  in a statement today, said the assistance will involve farmers registered under the Federal Government Padi Fertiliser Scheme (SBPKP) for the current planting season, with priority given to the 2026 first season.

“Through this implementation, farmers will receive an advance payment of RM200 per hectare on a one-off basis before or during ploughing activities.

“The remaining RM100 per hectare will be disbursed after the ploughing work has been completed and verified by the relevant agencies,” the statement said.

The ministry said the aid would be channelled directly into the bank accounts of registered farmers to ensure a faster and more efficient payment process, while cash payments through the Area Farmers’ Organisation (PPK) offices will also be available for certain cases.

“KPKM is confident that this initiative will help improve the cash flow of padi farmers, accelerate preparations for the planting season and reassure the farming community that the Madani Government listens to their concerns and understands the real challenges they face on the ground.

“The Madani Government remains committed to strengthening the country’s food security agenda through continuous support for the padi farming sector and the welfare of padi farmers nationwide,” the ministry said.

The ministry added that incentive rates for padi farmers in Sabah and Sarawak will remain unchanged, as farmers in both states continue to receive diesel subsidies. — Bernama
