KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — A total of 14 areas nationwide, including 11 in Sarawak, recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings due to haze as of 9 am today.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System portal, the areas in Sarawak with unhealthy readings are IPD Serian (197), Kuching (181), Samarahan (179), Sri Aman (172), Sarikei (163), Samalaju (161), Sibu (157), Mukah (155), Bintulu (153), Miri (147) and ILP Miri (147).
The other areas recording unhealthy API levels are Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic in Sabah with a reading of 150, followed by Pasir Gudang in Johor (109) and the Federal Territory of Labuan (103).
Forty-nine areas nationwide were reported to have moderate air quality, while five areas recorded good readings.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 indicates moderate air quality, 101 to 200 indicates unhealthy air quality, 201 to 300 indicates very unhealthy air quality, while readings of 301 and above are considered hazardous. — Bernama
