KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — Indonesia looks forward to deepening its longstanding friendship and cooperation with Malaysia, building on nearly seven decades of diplomatic ties, said Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Raden Datuk Mohammad Iman Hascarya.

He said the two countries had built a close friendship and strong cooperation over the past 69 years, rooted in shared history, culture and kinship.

“We look forward to deepening this partnership and creating even more opportunities for both our countries and our peoples,” he said at a reception marking Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day here on Friday.

Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir represented the Malaysian government at the event.

The ambassador also extended Indonesia’s warmest wishes to the Malaysian government and people in conjunction with Malaysia Day, which was celebrated earlier this week. — Bernama
