JOHOR BAHRU, June 27 — The nomination process for the 16th Johor State Election concluded at 10am today following the closure of all 56 nomination centres (PPC) statewide.

The one-hour window for submission of nomination papers ran from 9am, with returning officers (RO) announcing the closure at their respective centres.

Attention now turns to the official announcement of the list of eligible candidates and how many candidates are contesting each state seat.

After nominations are completed, the 14-day campaign period begins and runs until 11.59pm on July 10, as set by the Election Commission (EC), before polling day.

At several nomination centres, supporters gathered and accompanied candidates from their respective parties to the venues.

The situation around the centres remained calm and orderly, with no incidents of provocation, under tight security provided by the police (PDRM) and assisted by the People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA).

The EC has set July 7 for early voting and July 11 as polling day.

A total of 2,727,926 voters are eligible to vote, comprising 2,703,175 ordinary voters, 12,041 military personnel and their spouses, and 12,710 police personnel and their spouses.
