KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 — The first PAS delegates to attend an Umno general assembly received a warm welcome from party members here last night.
Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan welcomed three PAS Muslimat delegates while opening the simultaneous assemblies of the party’s Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri wings.
“Kayfa haluka?” Mohamad, better known as Tok Mat, briefly asked, meaning “How are you?” in Arabic.
Umno leaders attended PAS’ annual muktamar last week, and in a reciprocal gesture, Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party had invited PAS’ top leadership to its general assembly.
The two parties also worked together in the recent Negri Sembilan state election, where Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional won a combined 25 seats.
