KOTA BHARU, May 8 — Two teenage boys suspected of being behind the brutal killing of a 19-year-old college student found with 61 stab wounds in Ketereh were taken to court today for a remand extension.

Both suspects, also aged 19, arrived at about 8.50am under police escort for further legal proceedings, Harian Metro reported.

The initial seven-day remand for the duo expires today, and investigators are seeking an extension for the murder probe under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The victim, identified as Nurfisya Zulkifly, was found dead at about 12.30am on Friday along Jalan Kampung Kubang Kiat in Ketereh.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat previously said the victim had no identification documents on her when she was found, adding that she was later identified through fingerprint records with the National Registration Department.

Police believe the victim was killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the location near a paddy field.

A post-mortem found the cause of death to be multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Two other suspects who have been reported to be the parents of one of the teen boys, have since been released on police bail.
