KOTA BHARU, Aug 12 — The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) will improve the closed-circuit television (CCTV) system at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) if there are blind spots.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said there are currently 5,000 CCTVs at KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, but the monitoring aspect of the system also needs attention.
“The issue is not CCTV. If there are blind spots, we will improve that,” he told reporters after visiting the family of the late Corporal Mohamad Nur Hafiz Rahim, who died, believed to have been electrocuted in Beaufort, Sabah, last Thursday, at his family home in Kampung Hutan Pasir, Ketereh here today.
He said AKPS is currently in the second phase of operations which involves several forms of procurement, including CCTV as part of the equipment and infrastructure requirements.
“Just equipment, infra. But we also need to look at the people who supervise or monitor the infra themselves in terms of their training standards and so on,” he said. — Bernama
