KUALA PILAH, Aug 18 — The roof of a laboratory at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Juasseh here suddenly collapsed at noon today.

Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Commander, Senior Fire Officer Mohd Idham Mohd Rodzi said no casualties were reported in the incident.

He said firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call and found that part of the roof of the three-storey school building had collapsed.

“Further inspection found that no one was involved in the incident as the room was empty at the time.

“Several chemicals in the room were removed and relocated to a safer place as we were concerned that they could potentially cause a fire,” he told Bernama here today.

Mohd Idham said the area had been cordoned off and was to remain off-limits until it was deemed completely safe.

He said the case was subsequently referred to the Public Works Department (JKR) for further assessment. — Bernama
