Kuching storm blows off roof at Sarawak deputy premier’s family home

KUCHING, Aug 28 — The roof of Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian’s family house was blown off in a storm that hit several areas in Kuching yesterday.

In a Facebook post, Dr Sim said he was in Bintulu when the incident occurred and was thankful that everyone at the house was safe.

He said several houses in the surrounding areas, including a mall, were also affected by the storm.

“Thank you very much to all the messages concerning the roof of my family house that was blown off by the storm,” according to the post.

He also thanked the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), the Fire and Rescue Department, Sarawak Energy and other agencies for their prompt response and assistance following the incident. — Bernama
