KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — The Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP) has appointed Datuk Jay Khairil Jeremy Abdullah as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective May 20, 2026.
In a statement today, KWAP said Jay Khairil succeeds current CEO Datuk Nik Amlizan Mohamed, who has served since 2020.
The fund also expressed its appreciation for her leadership, service and contributions to KWAP’s continued success during her tenure.
KWAP said Jay Khairil will lead the organisation’s strategic direction, operations and institutional priorities, while advancing its mandate as Malaysia’s public sector pension fund through disciplined investment, sound governance and long-term institutional stewardship.
Jay Khairil has almost 30 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector, with extensive expertise in financial management, governance, internal audit, risk management and institutional transformation.
Prior to joining KWAP, he had served as chief executive of Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), where he led the bank’s transformation across financial performance, digital banking, operational resilience and financial inclusion, while delivering its developmental mandate to serve communities across Malaysia.
He also served as BSN’s chief financial officer and chief internal auditor, and held senior roles at CIMB Group, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (Malaysia) and Bank Negara Malaysia.
He is a chartered banker, chartered global management accountant and certified financial services auditor, and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, as well as a chartered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, BSN chairman Datuk Seri Awang Adek Hussin said Jay Khairil has been a key driver in strengthening the bank’s financial performance and social mandate, while also reinforcing governance and broadening financial inclusion, positioning BSN as a sustainable and resilient financial institution.
Following Jay Khairil’s departure as BSN’s chief executive, BSN’s deputy chief executive Mujibburrahman Abd Rashid, who has served the bank since 2018, has been appointed as the acting chief executive. — Bernama
