KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — A man suffered injuries to his thigh and legs after being bitten by a crocodile in an incident at the Sungai Linggi riverbank in Kampung Tanjung Agas early this morning.

In the 5am incident, the victim, Jaafa Hasan, 62, who is the secretary of the village development and security committee (JPKK), sustained serious injuries to both legs and his thigh, according to Kosmo! Online.

According to a local fisherman, the incident was shared in a fishermen’s WhatsApp group and went viral earlier today.

It is understood that the victim was at the riverbank casting a fishing net at the time of the attack.

“The victim may not have noticed the crocodile, which then attacked him. He is believed to have struggled with the reptile and managed to escape,” the source said.

The victim was later rushed to hospital by paramedics and is currently receiving follow-up treatment for his injuries.

Meanwhile, the Negeri Sembilan Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) is conducting investigations into the incident.
