
JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 25 — A weak earthquake measuring 3.1 magnitude struck the waters off Batu Pahat, Johor, at 4.12pm today.
In a statement, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the epicentre was located at coordinates 1.7 degrees north and 102.8 degrees east, about 18 kilometres (km) south-west of Batu Pahat.
“The quake was recorded at a depth of 10km.
“There is no tsunami threat to Malaysia,” it said in the statement issued today by the National Weather and Earthquake Operations Centre, MetMalaysia. — Bernama
