KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — The Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) has not received any formal complaint regarding allegations of abuse or orders to disrobe in front of other detainees involving Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said in a parliamentary written reply dated October 27.
Tamim is being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code for defiling a place of worship/sacred objects and religious vandalism.
“As of September 25, 2026, the IPCC has not received any complaints regarding allegations of rough treatment and orders to strip naked in front of other detainees against activist Tamim Dahri while in lockup custody,” the reply said.
“However, should there be any complaint of misconduct involving any police personnel, the IPCC will manage and handle the complaint pursuant to the provisions under Section 25 of Act 839.”
The parliamentary clarification follows previous claims regarding the activist’s treatment while in custody. The alleged incident happened in February this year, at the Gombak District Police Headquarters.
Saifuddin was responding to a question by Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut).
The IPCC, established under the Independent Police Conduct Commission Act 2022 [Act 839] which came into force on July 1, 2023, processes complaints of police misconduct received through various channels.
