KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 — Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu led the Malaysian government delegation in paying final respects to the late former Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, at the Grand Mosalla in Tehran.

In a Facebook post today, Mohamad said the mourning ceremonies would take place over several days, beginning in Tehran before continuing to Qom, Najaf, and Karbala, prior to the remains being taken to the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad for burial on July 9.

He said the tribute and mourning ceremonies were being held more than 100 days after Khamenei was killed in an attack involving the United States (US) and Israel on February 28.

“Alhamdulillah, the final respect for the late former Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, at the Grand Mosalla has just concluded. Upon my arrival, I was welcomed by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi,” he said.

Mohamad also prayed that Allah SWT would shower His mercy upon the deceased, forgive his sins, and grant him a place among the righteous. — Bernama
