MyJPJ data not shared with insurance partner Nile Tech, says MOT

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Nile Tech Sdn Bhd has not been granted access to MyJPJ application’s database, and no user profile information is automatically transmitted to the company via the insurance renewal link within the application.

In a written response published on the Parliament website, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) clarified that the insurance renewal service featured in MyJPJ serves merely as a link, directing users to the Nile Tech portal to complete their transactions.

“When the link is selected, users are redirected from the MyJPJ application to the Nile Tech portal. All insurance renewal processes and transactions take place on that portal.

“Should a user choose to proceed on the Nile Tech portal, any information entered by the user is subject to the portal’s own terms, conditions, and privacy policy,” the Ministry said in response to a question from Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut) regarding the protective measures in place to ensure that users’ personal data is not accessed by third parties.

The Ministry further explained that Nile Tech was appointed as a platform provider to offer an alternative channel for vehicle insurance renewal to MyJPJ users, aiming to facilitate online transactions and reduce the need for users to visit physical counters.

“This appointment was carried out through a process established by the MOT and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and is subject to stipulated terms and conditions.

“The company has not been granted exclusive rights to provide this service, and its implementation incurs no cost to the government,” the Ministry added. — Bernama
