SHAH ALAM, Sept 7 — PKR today denied speculations of turmoil among federal unity government components following developments in Umno’s ties with PAS.

PKR vice-president Datuk Chang Lih Kang said Pakatan Harapan (PH) continues to maintain good relations with BN, despite Umno’s strategic cooperation with PAS.

He said PKR nonetheless keeps a close watch on shifting political dynamics from time to time, Harian Metro reported.

“So far, there are no issues, and all Umno ministers still attended last week’s Cabinet meeting.

“We discussed national issues seriously, but there was no political chit-chat during the Cabinet meeting.

“We’ll see how things unfold, this is a party matter. I can only confirm there is no turmoil in the Cabinet at this point,” Chang was quoted as saying at a press conference after the National Science Challenge Prime Minister’s Cup final here.

He was responding to Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s earlier statement that

PH would not be invited to Umno’s assembly this week, as PAS had already been invited.

Zahid said Umno would focus on the pros and cons of cooperation rather than finalising any coalition arrangement ahead of the 16th general election.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had earlier said the decision to invite PAS’ top leadership was agreed upon at the party’s supreme council meeting.
