KOTA BHARU, Sept 3 — PAS Youth has passed a motion calling for the party to defend all its existing parliamentary and state seats in future elections, including when it cooperates with other parties, Free Malaysia Today (FMT) reported.
PAS Youth information chief Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar said the motion, tabled by a Padang Terap delegate, was unanimously approved by more than 800 delegates at the wing’s annual muktamar.
He said it was among six motions approved by PAS Youth to be brought to the main PAS muktamar, which begins today.
“This is to preserve the trust and confidence of voters who elected PAS to represent them. It is also a core policy in seat negotiations with allies,” he was quoted as saying last night.
The motion comes amid speculation that PAS-led Perikatan Nasional (PN) could cooperate with Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election, particularly after their alliance resulted in a victory in the Aug 1 Negeri Sembilan polls.
However, official talks between the two coalitions have yet to begin, while it remains uncertain whether BN and PN will form a pact for the Melaka state election, which is due by February 2027.
