KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — PAS is reviewing its political relationship and cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) ahead of the 16th general election (GE16), including the possibility of moving forward without its ally if both sides fail to reach a consensus.

According to Utusan Malaysia, its president, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, said all aspects involving ties between the two parties within Perikatan Nasional (PN) were being comprehensively reassessed based on lessons from previous elections.

He said PAS was taking a cautious approach and did not want to rush into any decision, but acknowledged that the party’s patience had its limits.

“We will study one by one what will happen after this. All aspects will be looked at, including the positive and negative impact on the existing cooperation.

“We are patient, we are not disappointed, but patience has its limits,” he reportedly told the national daily after delivering a Dhuha lecture in Rusila, Marang, today.

The remarks come amid growing speculation over internal dynamics within PN ahead of GE16, particularly following recent discussions over the coalition’s leadership structure and electoral direction.

PAS and Bersatu have been key pillars of PN since the coalition’s formation in 2020, with both parties cooperating in several state and federal elections despite occasional tensions over leadership and seat allocations.
