
IPOH, Sept 20 — An elderly couple and their grandson were killed in a fire involving a two-storey terraced house at Persiaran Desa Tambun 4, Taman Desa Tambun here early this morning.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Datuk Sayani Saidon said the department received a call at 4 am before a team from the Tambun and Ipoh Fire and Rescue Stations rushed to the scene.
She said the victims were identified as Raja Ahmad Raja Ali, 70, Zaitun Mohamed, 64, and Nik Abdurrahman Azimin Harith Helal, 18, while another victim, Raja Ikhwan Hadi Raja Ahmad, 47, survived after he was believed to have been sleeping in the house’s parking area.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the fire and rescue vehicles found that a Class A two-storey terraced house measuring 20 by 70 feet was on fire, with about 70 per cent of the house affected,” she said in a statement today.
Sayani said the 70-year-old male victim was found in the bathroom on the ground floor of the house, while the other two victims were found on the upper floor.
“One victim was found in the upstairs bathroom while another was found in a bedroom near a window on the upper floor of the house,” she said.
Based on the information received, all the victims were related, and six people lived in the house, but only four people were inside the house when the incident occurred.
She said the fire had been completely extinguished and the operation ended at 8 am today, with all the victims handed over to the police for further action. — Bernama
