PETALING JAYA, Aug 19 — A 27-year-old Chinese national who allegedly behaved aggressively towards passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s Terminal 1 building is believed to be mentally unwell and has been detained for further investigation, police said today.

KLIA police chief Assistant Commissioner M Ravi said authorities were alerted to the incident involving the woman at about 1.19pm on August 18, after she allegedly began shouting and disturbing passengers in the terminal’s departure hall by running, singing and dancing.

“Security personnel later arrived at the scene and managed to calm the situation before bringing the woman to the Terminal 1 police station for further action.

“Her partner later told police that she had forgotten to take her prescribed medication,” he said.

The woman was later taken to Hospital Kajang, where she was admitted to the psychiatric ward for further treatment.

He said the woman was scheduled to take a return flight to China that same day, having arrived in Malaysia with her partner as tourists on August 6.

Ravi said the woman was in stable condition and receiving treatment, while embassy officials had been informed of the incident.
