Police confirm body found inside suitcase in Sungai Perak is female

IPOH, Aug 15 — Police have confirmed that the body discovered inside a suitcase in Sungai Perak near the Lembah Kuala Kangsar jetty yesterday afternoon is that of a woman.

Kuala Kangsar police chief ACP Heisham Harun said preliminary investigations found that the victim is approximately 30 years old, though her identity has yet to be determined.

He said police received a call from a man at 3.12pm, reporting that he had found the body in the river near the jetty.

“The body has been sent to Taiping Hospital for an autopsy. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Heisham advised the public not to speculate or provoke any unrest regarding the case.

He appealed to anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation by contacting the Kuala Kangsar District Police Headquarters at 05-776 2222 or any nearby police station. — Bernama
