ISKANDAR PUTERI, Sept 18 — A 43-year-old local man has surrendered to the police after a viral video captured a white Porsche being driven against the flow of traffic to bypass a roadblock in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

In a statement on Thursday, Iskandar Puteri acting police chief Supt Saifullah Jaya @ Yahaya said the district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division detected the 12-second clip circulating on social media, which showed the sports car being driven recklessly through a police checkpoint at KM6.5 of Jalan Ismail Sultan.

The driver turned himself in at the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters on the same day the footage surfaced. A preliminary urine screening test returned negative for narcotics.

Police are investigating the incident under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. If convicted, the offender faces a prison sentence of up to five years, a fine ranging between RM5,000 and RM15,000, and a minimum five-year disqualification of his driving licence.

Saifullah warned that the police will not compromise on reckless driving behaviour that jeopardises the safety of the driver and other motorists, adding that investigations remain ongoing.
