KAMPAR, May 30 — Individuals found spreading videos or false information that tarnish the image of government ministries or agencies may face action.
Public Service Department (PSD) deputy director-general (Operations) Datuk Mohd Shaiful Ibrahim said such action was necessary to protect the credibility of government departments, as false information could undermine public confidence in the civil service.
He said departments have the right to defend their reputation if false information is circulated and damages their image, adding that police reports can be lodged to identify those responsible for spreading such content.
He said cases warranting further action would be referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers for prosecution, stressing that every case would first undergo a thorough investigation.
“If no offence is found, those involved will be cleared. Otherwise, further action will be taken in accordance with departmental procedures,” Mohd Shaiful told reporters after officiating the department’s Madani Adopted Village Korban programme at Kampung Kota Bharu here today.
On the programme, Mohd Shaiful said the PSD contributed five cows for the korban (sacrificial ritual), which involved about 100 participants comprising PSD staff, personnel from the Kampar District and Land Office, and locals.
He said the sacrificial meat was distributed to more than 300 recipients from the local community.
“We started at about 7am and the entire process, from slaughtering and preparing the meat to cooking and distribution, was carried out jointly by PSD staff, the Kampar District and Land Office, and villagers.
“The spirit of cooperation and togetherness reflected through this korban programme is also in line with Madani values that emphasise compassion, respect and community well-being,” he said. — Bernama
