Rapid KL to begin Kelana Jaya Line track replacement works on Sept 13

 

 

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — Rapid KL will begin phased track replacement works on the Kelana Jaya Line from Sunday, with affected stations starting services at 9.30am on designated Sundays instead of the usual 6am.

The works involve replacing existing tracks with new ones, along with related maintenance activities to ensure the line’s infrastructure remains safe and reliable.

The track replacement will be carried out in seven phases and is expected to be fully completed by September 2027.

Rapid KL said areas with long curved track sections require more time for replacement, with works on the specified dates extending into the morning to allow the work to be completed properly.

The affected stations and dates are:

Phase 1: Sept 13, 20 and 27, 2026 — Taman Melati and Gombak 

Phase 2: Nov 15, 22 and 29, 2026 — Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum 

Phase 3: Jan 10, 17 and 24, 2027 — Dato’ Keramat, Jelatek and Setiawangsa 

Phase 4: March 14, 21 and 28, 2027 — Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum 

Phase 5: May 9, 16 and 23, 2027 — Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC and Ampang Park 

Phase 6: July 11, 18 and 25, 2027 — Taman Jaya, Universiti, Kerinchi and Abdullah Hukum 

Phase 7: Sept 12, 19 and 26, 2027 — Taman Melati and Gombak 

Rapid KL said trains at stations not affected by the track replacement works would operate as usual according to their daily operating schedules.

At affected stations, ticket machines will be temporarily unavailable until 9.30am, although passengers can purchase tickets at station counters. Rapid KL and Touch ‘n Go product users can continue their journeys as usual.

Free shuttle buses

Rapid KL will provide free shuttle buses connecting the affected stations throughout the track replacement works to help passengers continue their journeys.

Station staff, auxiliary police and Prasarana Troopers will also be stationed at the affected and relevant interchange stations to assist passengers.

Signboards and information leaflets will be provided as additional guidance.

Rapid KL advised Kelana Jaya Line passengers, particularly those travelling on the affected Sunday mornings, to check for the latest information on the work schedule, affected stations and alternative services via myRapid or Rapid KL’s official social media channels.

The operator said the track replacement works were necessary to maintain the safety and reliability of the Kelana Jaya Line and support more reliable rail services in the future.
