IPOH, Nov 1 — The only temporary relief centre (PPS) in the Kerian district, which was opened last Thursday to accommodate flood victims, was closed at noon today.
Kerian District Officer and Kerian District Disaster Management Committee chairman Saidi Shaari said monitoring found that conditions in the affected areas were now safe and all victims had been allowed to return to their respective homes.
“Our deepest appreciation and gratitude go to all government agencies and NGOs (non-governmental organisations) that assisted in and coordinated the smooth operation of the relief centre throughout its operation,” he said in a statement today.
Earlier this morning, 18 people from seven families were taking shelter at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Titi Serong relief centre. They were residents of Taman Aman Sejahtera and Taman Desa Aman 1. — Bernama
