KUCHING, Aug 29 — Lubok Antu, Sri Aman and Lundu recorded very unhealthy air quality as of 8am on Saturday, with Air Pollutant Index (API) readings of 225, 222 and 203 respectively.
According to the Natural Resources and Environment Board’s (NREB) Daily Haze Watch, these were the only three of the 18 monitoring locations statewide to record readings above 200.
Nine locations recorded unhealthy air quality, led by Serian at 193 and Sarikei at 188.
They were followed by Kuching at 169, Samarahan (168), Mukah (164), Tebedu (162), Sibu (160), Kapit (153) and Bintulu (151).
The remaining six locations recorded moderate air quality — Samalaju at 93, ILP Miri (70), Miri (68), Lawas (67), Bario (64) and Limbang (55).
An API reading of between 51 and 100 is classified as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, and 201 to 300 as very unhealthy. — The Borneo Post
