SHAH ALAM, Aug 12 — The Selangor government is still in the discussion stage with various parties including the private sector to identify the appropriate development and financing model for the development of the Selangor Rail Line.
State Investment, Trade and Mobility Exco Ng Sze Han said the state government through the Menteri Besar of Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI as the Technical Committee for Selangor Rail Development is examining the most potential development and financing model to be implemented.
He said the mechanism for implementing the development of the Selangor Rail Line is also being refined to identify the most profitable and appropriate method.
“Of course, a large-scale project like the Selangor Rail Line involves the private sector as well as government agencies,” he said in response to a question from Mariam Abdul Rashid (PH-Meru) regarding the direction of the Selangor Rail Line project at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
Meanwhile, he said based on the feasibility study that has been carried out, the first phase of the project’s development is expected to take 10 years, covering the entire development process including the preparation of preliminary designs, detailed studies and approval of the Railway Scheme by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD).
“The phase also includes procurement, land acquisition, construction work and the testing and commissioning process.”
“The final phase of development is expected to be completed in 2060, subject to the implementation of the planned development phases,” he said. — Bernama
